"The Electric Tale of Pikachu" are a manga series distinct in the fact that they are based off of the Pokemon anime, not the games themselves. One of the great things about this series is that it's like the anime, but written for a more mature audience. The jokes are much less childish, and many of the stories are clearly written with teenagers/adults in mind, rather than children.

The world of this series is something like a fusion of America in the late 80's and a futuristic technological society. It's different enough to be interesting, but familiar enough for fans of the anime/other pokemon manga to enjoy.
